So, this cake is actually pretty good (though I take off the fruit roll-up pepperoni because I’m not a big fan of fruit roll-ups). But, it’s pretty hilarious that it looks like a pizza. Since April Fools Day is coming up, I thought it would be fun to do a recipe that was kind of zany! So why not a cake that looks like something other than a cake, right? So…here it is! A Pizza Cake! (Plus my birthday was this week…so CAKE!) And you should totally make this cake and most definitely post pictures and show us!
This recipe was given to me by my friend Max Holliday. Looking at the recipe, Jared and I determined that it isn't REALLY a cake...but it does LOOK delicious and it is most definitely a dessert. Enjoy the nerdy (albeit dark) humor in the recipe, courtesy my friend Max. There aren't any precise measurements, because Max didn't provide them.
I love making spritz cookies - these are the kind of cookies you make using a cookie press. They're pretty easy to make. It took me a while to get the hand of the cookie press. I've been making them for years now, but I have to admit that at first - my spritz cookies really didn't resemble anything. They just kinda looked like blobs. Now, the first few years I made spritz cookies, I make plain ones. Then I discovered this recipe. I never looked back.
So, I absolutely LOVE Egg Nog. Like Seriously. So when I saw I could make sugar cookies with Egg Nog, I knew I had to try it. I haven't yet...so this is a recipe we can all try together. When I try it, I will share pictures.
During any convention it's important to stay healthy and hydrated, so a tasty fruit smoothie is one way to do that. When we got back from GenCon, we were excited to talk about all the games we saw and played. Of course we ate a lot of food there too...but we didn't make any of it. So, we picked a few recipes with a common theme - dragon fruit - because GenCon always uses images of a dragon. It's kind of their mascot.
A vanilla milkshake is about as basic as you get. Board games don't have to have a theme to be great games...or they don't have to be dependant on the theme to be great. A vanilla milkshake can have a flavor added, but it still started as a delicious vanilla milkshake.
There are many different versions of Stack Cake out there, this one is more like the "old fashioned" style that used to be used in southern mountain towns. There is actually a little bit of history that goes with these cakes, which is kind of neat. Cakes used to be (and still can be) quite expensive. So when small towns would have town gatherings, like a barn dance, each family would make and bring one layer of a cake and it would be assembled (or stacked) using dry spiced fruit or apple butter.
