Cinco de Mayo is coming up, and what better time is there to make some Guacamole? Well…personally, I think there isn’t a bad time to make guacamole as long as you can get some good, ripe avocados! I love avocado! This particular recipe is from my mother-in-law. It’s real is really easy to make and it’s great to serve on game night! -Jondi As always, if you make this guacamole, post pictures! This week's episode was about dice games and I decided that it would be fun to do more of a "how to" instead of a recipe. I love cheese trays. They make great game night foods! An EPIC cheese tray has more than just cheese and crackers, It comes complete with a good variety of cheese, meat, a few different types of crackers and don't forget a good fig jam.
These pumpkin seeds certainly aren't the ones you'll remember from the days roasting pumpkin seeds with mom or grandma when you were a kid...but they're sure to be a hit on game night with the grown ups! They're made with whiskey and bacon drippings!
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds are a family tradition for a lot of families in the fall, especially around Halloween. If you carve Jack-0-Lanterns, why not clean off the seeds and roast up those seeds. But did you know you can do more than just put some melted butter and salt on them? One of my favorite variations is the Garlic Parmesan Pumpkin seeds, though you have to be careful...this variation is easy to burn. I do it almost every time for some reason. I always end up burning like a third of my seeds.
Halloween is a fun time of year and when you get together either with your family on the weekend around Halloween to play games, why not serve a healthy snack using the seeds from the pumpkins you probably carved? I remember my mom roasting the pumpkin seeds when I was a kid...what I didn't know is how much of a pain it is to clean those things off in order to roast them. But it's worth it.
A note from Jondi about this dip -- I'm not always a huge fan of cranberries and I don't like jalapenos at all. But for some reason, when you put them together in this dip they are delicious. This episode was all about games we like with mechanics we don't like, so I thought this dip was the perfect recipe to share!
Conventions keep you on your feet and busy for long periods of time, sometimes a lot longer than you're used to. It's important to make sure you eat and stay hydrated! Snack mixes are great to eat to give you a boost until your next meal time, and they don't make a mess on your fingers while you play the games! This is a more traditional, healthy snack mix that you can put into plastic bags and tuck into your bag at the convention.
When you're at a Game Con, it's important to make sure you eat in order to keep your energy up. You don't want to skip meals...even though it's tempting with all those games to play! If you want a little snack, with a little sweet...this White Chocolate Snack Mix will surely hit the spot! Put it in plastic bags in your convention bag and you'll have snacks to keep you going all day and night!
This is an incredibly easy party food to make, and it is really inexpensive too! Of course, if you are serving party food to a bunch of people who are lactose intolerant, this definitely isn't the party appetizer for you...but otherwise, these taco rolls are almost always a huge hit! Your friends will be asking for the recipe!
