This week’s episode was all about gardening/farming games, so…I wanted to share a recipe that was related to things you grow in a garden (mostly anyway)…or things that come from a farm. I think I pretty much nailed it with this recipe! It’s kind of like a little portable garden (with cheese – but cheese is made from milk, and milk comes from cows; and cows live on farms!). Every year when I go to Origins, I HAVE to go to Dirty Franks Hot Dog Palace. It’s a MUST visit restaurant if you like hot dogs. DELISH! My favorite dog there has creamy coleslaw and french fries on it…yes it SOUNDS weird, but it is SO GOOD. A lot of their hot dog concoctions sound weird, but they are OH SO GOOD. The theme of this episode was SUPPOSED to be about games we don’t understand…but it got away from us and ended up being some about that and some about games we don’t like but other people do. Cinco de Mayo is coming up, and what better time is there to make some Guacamole? Well…personally, I think there isn’t a bad time to make guacamole as long as you can get some good, ripe avocados! So this episode was about “Games on the Go,” and Jared joked that I should just do Hot Pockets for the recipe. Of course he meant the crappy freezer Hot Pockets that you put in the microwave – you know the ones, they are never fully cooked in the center. Yeah THOSE. Yuck. But, I decided it was still a fun idea. You can make homemade pizza pockets with crescent rolls, and they’re pretty good. I don’t know how “on the go” they are, though you can put them in a container and warm them up for lunch
So, this cake is actually pretty good (though I take off the fruit roll-up pepperoni because I’m not a big fan of fruit roll-ups). But, it’s pretty hilarious that it looks like a pizza. Since April Fools Day is coming up, I thought it would be fun to do a recipe that was kind of zany! So why not a cake that looks like something other than a cake, right? So…here it is! A Pizza Cake! (Plus my birthday was this week…so CAKE!) And you should totally make this cake and most definitely post pictures and show us!
This week's episode was about dice games and I decided that it would be fun to do more of a "how to" instead of a recipe. I love cheese trays. They make great game night foods! An EPIC cheese tray has more than just cheese and crackers, It comes complete with a good variety of cheese, meat, a few different types of crackers and don't forget a good fig jam.
This recipe was given to me by my friend Max Holliday. Looking at the recipe, Jared and I determined that it isn't REALLY a cake...but it does LOOK delicious and it is most definitely a dessert.
