There are so many board games based on TV shows but 85% of them are space or sci-fi TV shows. Jondi is dying in this episode, which is our first episode recorded "on-the-road" with the new "mobile studio," aka we put all of the equipment in a mobile studio rack and now I can carry a 300lbs box around yay.
Listen to how dumb we are in this highly controversial episode where we talk about how we're too dumb to read a rule book correctly! We didn't intend this to be an episode where we just complained about everything, but we just kind of started talking and got lost.
There are lots of great games that are available for free (or at least just the cost of printer paper and ink). Some are homebrew, some are games that are available to print as a demo, and some are just weird. And I cannot stress just how much Jondi hates Werewolf.
Originally this episode was going to be about something completely different. Oh well. Toss these games in your bag and go stand in line somewhere, because it's time to think about waiting for food at restaurants while playing board games!
A bunch of cool games were talked about recently at the GAMA trade show in Reno, Nevada. We checked out a few of them that we thought were really cool. Several really cool upcoming games! [Note: several of the games featured in this episode were made up by us for April Fools Day!]
This episode we're talking about games where the primary mechanic is rolling dice. I cut out 40 minutes of stuff from this episode (that's not an exaggeration either) so this is probably a topic we will come back to some day. Also, have you ever noticed how many dice rolling games have exclamation marks in the names? There is seriously some kind of weird thing going on with those names.
Listen right meow to these adorable cat pun games! Check out these purrfect party games, meowsome... uhh... sometimes cat puns are just too much for some people. All of us at Eat Chit & Dice have a love of cats, and many board game designers do as well. Cat games are awesome, but sometimes the puns are just terrible.
Everyone wants to go to space, but very few people think about the implications that zero gravity would have on playing board games. Board games are not a popular hobby in any space related medium that I am familiar with, so why so many space games?
We all know the struggle of playing games that seem to drag on for far too long. Sure, many times the issue is that you're just learning it, or maybe someone has issues with strategy. But sometimes, the games are to blame. While Jared really enjoys games that can take entire days, Jondi does not.
Do you know the difference between roll-play and role-play? It's okay, neither do we! We're ranting about all of the dumbest characters we've ever made in various RPGs through the years, as well as talking about board games that tie in to role playing games.
